Frank McCauley‘s work derives inspiration from “an internal exploration of childhood influences, popular icons and cultural stereotypes and questions commonly held assumptions about how we construct our own individual identities.”
Using print, photography and found photographs in the work featured here, McCauley’s work certainly blurs and confused the identities of his subjects.
I’d absolutely love so see his sketchbook and the process behind how he comes up with these stunners. I’d like to think that each piece is so different because of the identities of those in them, or perhaps what Frank or society at large might assume their identities to be.
McCauley’s mixed-media marvels will be a nice bit of inspiration for my self-directed brief this year, seeing as though I’ve chosen to base my project on the question of identity…
